The photo-centric social media app Instagram has finally incorporated the pinch to zoom into its system. This two finger zoom was here since a decade now and is certainly not a new concept for anyone who is familiar with the smartphone concept. Photobombers will be stars and bystanders can be easily noticed as the network announced the zoom feature on not only photos but also videos.
Instagram said in a statement the 300 million of its 500 million monthly active users are checking in daily since June. The company anticipates that the users will check the app even more thoroughly after this addition. Roughly about 95 million photos and videos are shared daily by the users. The new feature adds the capability to zoom in but while doing that it takes over the whole screen of the phone. The photo stays zoomed till your fingers are touching the screen, the moment they separate from the screen surface the photo will snap back to its original position. In other words, the photo doesn’t stay zoomed in and hence users have to zoom into that particular corner which they want to be magnified. In the case of video, the zoomed in the video will keep playing.
This new feature is a compliment for the business profile that the company rolled out recently. Users following the official page need to zoom in to see the product. iOS users can see the update as this article is been published and Android users can expect the update in coming weeks.
