Including a 6 percent reduction in staff and global restructure is announced by NetApp on Thursday. According to a report from the 10,700 staffs, 640 will be losing their job. Last year they had a 12,300 employee working for the company globally in 150 offices last year. NetApp said in order to cut expenses and the restructure the company has to cut 12 percent of its workforce in a regulatory filing in February this year. The company intended to take a charge of between $60 million to $70 million for the closures at that time. During its transition to cloud-based, storage the California-based company has been stressed with growing rivalry. The company mentioned its intentions of becoming more of a software based and will be competing with rivals like VMWare. In a process to double down all-flash equipment, the company has acquired the SolidFire in a bid.
