1it enterpriseNB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) demonstration has been announced by the Singaporean telecommunication company M1. This is the nation’s first live demonstration of the 5G network technology and NB-IoT in partnership with Nokia. A humidity sensor and room temperature remote application are involved in the trial. The sensors will collect and share data. The 5G trial saw a 1ms latency. The NB-IoT network is expected to be deployed in Singapore in 2017. Featuring the IoT devices, the nation is presently chasing a Smart Nation initiative. Nokia and M1 have also announced the commercial launch of HetNet (Heterogeneous Network) nationwide that uses Nokia’s Flexi Zone Wi-Fi small cells and equipment allowing the users to alter between various wireless network types.

According to the teleco in order to improve, the download speed by around 60 percent M1 had trailed the HetNet including Orchard road and MRT stations for more than a year before launching it.  1Gbps download speed can be achieved in combination with M1’s 4G+network and LTE-Wi-Fi Aggregation (LWA) technology by 2017. M1 announced in August that they have announced a total of more than SG$50 million for their HetNet and NB-IoT. Additional devices can be connected to 4G networks at a lower cost using narrowband networks.
