Asvarious rumors about its features emerged online, many are anticipating the device to launch soon, even though the device was not launched with the Surface Studio and Surface Book i7. There are two variants expected to be released one low-end with a2K display and the other high-end one with a 4 K display. The high-end model might include a 16 GB of RAM. The included accessory Surface Pen will now charge automatically once attached to the tablet. This upgrade is a big welcome as the previous models of the Surface Pens used AAAA sized batteries.

The rumor also includes the use of USB-C ports instead of the USB 3.0 ports. On the improved screen, many users also anticipate the incorporation of a fingerprint sensor. The new speculations are suggesting that the device will have a Kaby Lake processor unlike earlier when it was said the device to have a Sky Lake processor.
