Microsoft Skype update gets Bots onboard

Microsoft Skype update gets Bots onboardMicrosoft has proclaimed a Skype update this Friday. Digital quizmasters and other Skype users can participate in a group conversation. Cards that let the user see pictures and receipts is now supported on the Skype. Skype is offering a functionality similar to Slack that will allow developers to open their robotic conversation partners to a bunch of friends. Conversation as a computing platform is what Microsoft is targeting.

The vision describing a future where Cortana like assistant team up with special purpose bots to help humans to perform booking flights and making hotel reservation like tasks is laid out the Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Users can be allowed to log into services like hotel loyalty program, hence interacting with a business without logging in constantly by the developers.

Microsoft’s Bot Framework, a set of developer tools making it easier for people to create conversational bots comes along with the Skype specific update news. Rather than copying and pasting the configuration data, the better integration of Bot framework with the Skype is allowing developers auto configure Bots made with the platform. The addition of better controls for developers makes it easier for them to send a message having clickable elements such as carousels and cards. This integration is important as many messaging services allow users to interact.
