Hacker forces healthcare providers to pay ransom to protect the delicate informationOne hacker has shaken down the US healthcare providers by stealing the sensitive data of the patients. The healthcare providers are left with no option but to pay off. Some 10 million patient data such as social security numbers, phone numbers, and addresses were stolen by the hacker known as TheDarkOverlord is now threatening to sell those at the Black market unless the providers pay a ransom.  As the providers are refusing to pay off the hacker is informing the patients to build up pressure. The hacker said through an encrypted chat will you be upset if the providers are unable to protect your delicate healthcare information.

Healthcare providers informed the data is being sold for $134,000 per batch at the black market. The hacker has scheduled a deadline for the payment and if not paid the firms will be named on a twitter account set up by the TheDarkOverlord to build pressure.

The stolen data is real, said a security firm InfoArmor who is investigating the case. InfoArmor said the hacker might have drained off data from the MRI and X-Ray machines. The security agency said not to trust the cyber criminals as they might trick you and demand more payment in the future.
