98% Of M2M Data Traffic Will Be Generated By Autonomous Cars In Future

1IT EnterpriseAccording to a new report, 98 percent of the mobile to mobile data traffic will be generated by the sophisticated IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) system that has the capabilities to offer real-time navigation and play music in a matter of five years. The massive amount of cellular mobile to mobile data traffic will be generated by the IVI of your car which will mirror your smartphone’s interface to the car’s IVI such as Android Auto and Apples CarPlay.

The autonomous driving system will also go to be vastly benefited from the M2M technology. The M2M enabling the cellular V2V (vehicle to Vehicle) technology is expected to be the foundation of the system. Over the air software upgrades will be common as well to the vehicles. By the year 2021 around 6,000 petabytes (1 Million GB=1 Petabyte) of data will be generated annually through music streaming apps, Internet radio and information services like data intensive applications. This data will be equivalent to about 300 billion hours of music streaming.

Over the air software updates, subscription updates and vehicle updates will be provided through the In-Vehicle Wireless 4G Subscriber Identity Module cards for the driver and the passenger. Trucks and other automobiles to communicate with each other and with the traffic control system through the V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) communication systems has already been developed by the automakers.
