Vodafone, HuaweiFollowing the completion of a 5G e-band test outdoors Vodafone and Huawei were able to reach 20 Gbps peak rate at the Vodafone’s Emerald House situated at Newbury, UK. A single-user multiple input multiple outputs (SU-MIMO) with a strong reflection path reached 20Gbps user equipment (UE) peak rate, while multi-user multiple input multiple outputs (MU-MIMO) for long-range UE reached 10Gbps peak rate said Huawei.

Using the e-band to reach 20 Gbps peak rate for a single user device with high spectrum efficiency this is the world’s first outdoor 5G field test. This can enable new applications and also act as a self-backhaul for 5G mobile service traffic believes Huawei.

Eric Xu, CEO of Huawei said, “5G will bring the full spectrum access and sustenance for Artificial Intelligence, Smart vehicle, Virtual Intelligence and many other. In a real world radio propagation environment and co-existence of different radio links the joint trail 5G mmWave is encouraging”. Vodafone’s co-operation is greatly valued by the Company and they believe to achieve more advancement while being a partner with Vodafone.

Johan Wiberg, CTO at Vodafone mentioned, validating the performance of 5G in the high-frequency band and refining the understanding of the technologies competences. The partnership of Vodafone and Huawei has tackled a number of network techs.
